Re: One more day - what are your best memories
Billy, it would also be a reasonable point that another manager could have done a lot better with strongest squad we have had in years. Certainly better than 3 wins since January.

Re: One more day - what are your best memories
Allardyce has created a siege mentality at West Ham , he has his mates in the team and it is very much "them against us"

Now this might work when the "them" is the opposition but just like a lot of poorly run companies, when they get so insular, complacent and arrogant that they believe the "them" are the paying customers you have already lost no matter how much you believe yourself to be a "winner"

And the deluded and talking bollocks thing?

You can address the rubbishing of our proud, whether misguided or not, history of the West Ham way to if you like.

So Blagg, do you think we should give him another 2 year contract?

Of course I remember it. I was fucking there like everyone else. He cupped his ear because he didn't understand why the team had been booed when we'd won a vital game. You know what? - and I said this at the time - I didn't know why they got booed either! Of course it was a poor performance, yes I'd liked to us to have played better and NO he should not have done that but we all do stupid things sometimes and cupping your ear doesn't mean 'OBVIOUSLY he hates us'.

Was you there? Did you boo that night? I didn't I cheered as I was so relieved. But I was giving them stick for not getting out and taking the game to Hull like everyone else. I wish this didn't happen regularly to West Ham but it does and it happened long before Allardyce arrived.

Do I remember? Yea, I do. I also remember playing Stoke on a Wednesday night in the Championship under Pardew (worst game I've ever seen at UP). I remember when Leroy Rosenior was paired with 'Grace' Kelly. I remember when Jimmy Quinn was the best forward we could get. I remember a whole load of shit Saturday afternoons and evenings when we played badly and actually lost.

Allardyce simply believes that if he wasn't in charge and somebody else was (assuming they had the same players which is obviously debatable) that we would be any better than we are now. I think it's a reasonable point.

He said we're deluded and talk bollocks, Blagg.

He cupped his ear at us in the ground.

So you remember these things?

IF he dislikes us - and unless he's told you or me or the press that then I don't see how you can say it - I suspect it's because he gets frustrated with fans going on about the 'West Ham way'. He doesn't understand that and has publicly said it, but when he did we had discussions here and elsewhere and nobody else could tell him what the 'way' was either. I suggested it might be constantly moaning and thinking things were going to be better than they are.

I've got a lot of good memories of the past three years and a lot of frustrating and annoying ones too. I've bben happy and I've been angry. But it's never been any different in my lifetime or that of anyone else I know. Apart from the obvious era under Greenwood and Lyall I just don't see things have ever been any better.

But he clearly doesn't understand us......and it's very clear he dislikes the fans and throughout his four years has made that very clear

Re: One more day - what are your best memories
ajc123 11:15 Sun May 24. I didn't say he was a tactical genius and (although I don't think he's said he has claimed he's a genius) Sam's assessments of his worth are one of the things I don't like about him. I just don't agree with statements like 'he's thrown games deliberately', 'he's northern and doesn't understand us' or 'he hates us'.

Mr Polite 11:27 Sun May 24 SO apart from the fact I'm verbose - I'll hold me hand up to that one - what exactly is the problem other than I don't agree with you? As Glenn Rodent has pointed out in his post further down, people are just saying stupid things that are patently not true.

stirlinghammer 11:23 Sun May 24 Does it matter? To paraphrase Spike Milligan 'Everyone's gotta get there somehow'. I'd like to get there like Manchester City but it ain't gonna happen is it? BFS bringing in Nolan as a statement of intent after relegation stopped everyone leaving and was a masterstroke. Without Sam doing that we'd have lost players and taken years to get out of the Championship. And before you say anything - yes! he's played Nolan for too long but as I said at the start I'm not saying he's a genius.

Play-off final and this season until Christmas.
Enjoyed his Championship season - we were more entertaining. 0-3 at the Lane.

Re: One more day - what are your best memories
Yes billy. Been going since the 70s and so have become used to all the 'drama'. The biggest disappointment for me has been Sam just focusing on a core group of players, his own players, rather than the whole club and history - which he openly mocked. Well fck off Sam.

The threat of relegation has been overused by his pals &.Sam had his chance and he blew it. Some fans want no risk and more boredom. We got to the Wembley due to the play off and we look like getting into Europe by not getting yellow and red cards.

Sloppy Giuseppe 11:21 Sun May 24
Re: One more day - what are your best memories
ajc123 - absolutely spot on. For every positive tactical switch BFS made in the last four years, there were at least five bafflingly negative ones. I've had some great times in the last four years but I can still count them on my hands. Says it all.

3 mil a year for 4 years and we only have a handful of good memories. Says it all really.
